About Tygerberg CC

Founded in 1957 in Tiervlei — now Ravensmead — Tygerberg Cricket Club has grown from humble beginnings into one of the Western Cape's most respected cricket institutions. Built on resilience, community spirit, and a commitment to development, we have produced top provincial and international talent while playing a proud role in South Africa's cricketing history.

In 1992 we were among the first clubs in the country to unite across racial lines, merging with Parow Cricket Club. Our alumni include Vernon Philander and Alfonso Thomas at international level, Denver Carolus at Western Province senior level, and in 2012 we became the first club to have both the SA Cricketer of the Year and SA Women's Cricketer of the Year in the same season.

Youth & Junior Cricket

Tygerberg CC's junior programme is central to the club's identity. With 70 junior members across five age groups, we are one of the most active youth cricket clubs in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town.

All sessions are held at Florida Park, Ravensmead under qualified coaches. Equipment is available for new players — just arrive ready to play and learn.

Mini Cricket

Our entry-level soft-ball programme introducing the youngest players to cricket through fun, non-competitive games. No experience needed — just enthusiasm!

Building on Mini Cricket foundations with more structured coaching. Players develop batting and bowling basics while enjoying competitive formats.

Technique-focused sessions covering all three disciplines. Players begin participating in organised league cricket with emphasis on sportsmanship and skill.
